anos 70

The 70ths

This table belongs to my childhood memories. I used to play in my cousins’ house and there it was, in the living room, this Olaio table from the 70ths. At that time I wasn’t interessed in any of this things though many objects have left their imprint in me. Much later I have came to retrieve them, literally. A kind of memories upcycling.

Olaio table from the 70ths made of mahogany with serial nr. 1059. Originally, the table top was made of wood veneer on mahogany, unrecoverable. It was replaced by 4 mm plain glass with rounded edges placed into a groove. Glass seemed to me a more interesting option because it allows an overall view of the "magazine holder”. Anyhow the original option remains always possible for those who consider that a period piece should not suffer any change.

Rocking horse

Back home we didn’t have any of those wood rocking horses although there were other wood toys. I particularly remember one of them, a lovely witch puppet that my parents brought from Germany.

Despite they still being manufactured, this one was found in the garbage. One day, when I went for a walk and there it was, starring, a little white spot in the middle of the green grass. Brought to the workshop we gave him a new life. Paints used are water based with no other finishing.
